Unlocking the Future of Healthcare: Logan’s Master of Science in Health Informatics Degree Provides Three Tracks for Maximum Customization

Logan’s Master of Science in Health Informatics (MS-HI) program combines aspects of healthcare, information technology and management to improve delivery, patient outcomes and overall efficiency in the healthcare system.

Data is one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine. From pharmaceuticals and insurance to clinics, hospitals and non-profits, the field of health informatics is one of the fastest-growing health professions and is expected to grow 17% through 2031.

Logan’s MS-HI program sits at the intersection of information technology and healthcare and offers three different tracks that allow students to customize their degree.

Leadership Track: this track combines information technology, healthcare administration theory and skills with real-world applications. This track is designed for those who are in, or would like to move into, a leadership role as the curriculum focuses on operations and management topics and skills. Possible career paths could include chief medical information officer, chief nursing informatics officer, director of clinical information systems and more.

Data Analysis Track: this track blends tools of data analysis and information technology to solve emerging problems in the healthcare industry and the delivery of care and services. Students enrolled in these courses will learn how to interpret data and use it to communicate results and findings to solve healthcare problems in diverse settings. This track is designed for those who want to work with data, as the curriculum focuses on the collection, analysis, and presentation of data. Possible career paths could include data analyst, data architect, director of business informatics and more.

Applied Informatics Track: this track is suited for practitioners who plan to manage and analyze data for use in clinical decisions by patients and providers, as well as advancing quality improvement efforts across health systems. This track is designed for those who like to solve problems as the curriculum focuses on consulting skills, including problem identification and proposed solutions. Possible career paths can include medical officer, nurse informaticist, program manager and more.

Logan’s online MS-HI allows for maximum flexibility in three 15-week trimesters per year. After selecting a track, students start the program focusing on core courses, such as information systems management, project management and research methods in healthcare, before immersing themselves in more detailed courses.
